Because Dreamride's mom and pop owners have lived on the Big Island, continue to vacation there, and have many friends on the island to assist, trips guided by the pair are best described as "sharing a well-rehearsed vacation with friends who care for you and know the best of the island." Some activities offered may include extra guides/instructors/drivers for safety and smooth logistics, but Lee and Miki are always there for you. Safety is a prime concern and plans are made according to YOUR skills and interests. Lee and Miki's experience, mature focus on your specific needs, wants, abilities and interests, and their ability to deliver good times, are Dreamride's most valuable resources.

Full service Big Island of Hawaii active vacation packages consist of seven days and eight nights on the Island. Your first day is a gentle introduction, to settle in, sleep, eat well, sort gear and enjoy a relaxing swim, ride or hike. What follows the first day is a carefully planned series of tightly planned physical activities, nighttime entertainment and relaxing intervals tuned to your particular interests, skills and fitness. All equipment and island transportation is provided. This includes shuttle to and from the airport, trails, beaches, restaurants and evening entertainment. That said, through experience, we recommend bringing your own bike. If you want some independence and the convenience of a second shuttle vehicle, . In additional to our 4WD shuttle you may request a personal rental car or minivan, which offers personal freedom and can be used to enhance shuttle opportunities. If you choose to extend your stay beyond your time with us, we will assist with plans for non-guided days.

Sports equipment including a 4WD shuttle vehicle is inlcuded in the price of this package. We will acquire rental bike(s) on the island at no additional charge, but do NOT advise rental equipment on the island. Upscale bike rentals from our MOAB FLEET can be flown in at additional costs, but the best bike for Hawaii is YOUR personal mountain bike. Flexibility enhances a well-planned trip.
A small private package means we are not bound to a set schedule. Flexibility is a feature of Dreamride's private small group trips. Opt for any combination of road riding, mountain biking, watersports, hiking, and caving within the week. The timing and ratio of activities is determined through personal interview(s). An itinerary is formulated with alternate plans for each day, while we remain supremely flexible to allow for weather, surf conditions and special opportunities. No "stink time" allowed!

Lava tubes, anyone?
Knowing the island is good. Knowing the right people is important. Native friends are a most valuable resource, providing rare opportunities and extended services, such as private tours of secret attractions (such as this lava tube), REAL traditional Hawaiian food, and presentation of arts and crafts in a truly down-home native Hawaiian setting. The spirit of Hawaii is best experienced far from the flabby hordes who flock to Hawaii to take an "adventure" on a bus to a luau with a thousand white people at a crowded beach resort surrounded by manicured lawns and golf courses. Dreamride is different. We love the native aura, even if it is strange and funky to unaware "tourists" who just want more of the same with pineapple on top.

Mountain Biking is the core of a Dreamride vacation.
Mountain bike trails on Hawaii include moderate to technical, rooted and sometimes muddy singletrack, easy to very rugged Jeep roads, rough narrow pavement roads, and smooth narrow pavement with a wide variety of side spurs. Trails go around volcanos, to remote beaches, across sugar cane fields, through lush tropical fern and over desert lava fields. Surfaces are paved, hardpack, sharp a'a lava, bumpy pahoehoe lava, sand, mud, loam, wet roots and loose lava rocks. Though the Ironman competition offers a grand appearance of "exotic" road riding, popular road courses are pitiful due to extreme traffic, lack of shoulders and absolutely no shade. We see packs of road tourists, sagged by vans, cooked like baked chicken, risking their lives on a long downhill next to a line of speeding, impatient drivers who traditionally use any shoulder to pass. We recommend that you bring a mountain bike for all cycling. You will thank us for making you bring a more capable bike with wheels that can handle the rough roads and appropriate trails to your skill level. Specific trails and road itineraries are always tuned to client abilities and interests. Sometimes the trail of the day is chosen on the fly to adjust for weather or avoid crowded conditions. The listing is by skill level to give you an idea of what to expect. We do not list our favorite trails or road routes to maintain privacy and show respect for the locals, the fragile wildlife and historic artifacts.

Food ~ Evening Entertainment
We travel with a private chef to prepare breakfasts, lunches and dinners when we are not in the field. Restaurant meals, when needed, are provided. We provide boxed lunches on rides when appropriate. All island transport to and from evening dining and entertainment is provided. The best restaurants in the state of Hawaii (including exotic, over-priced foo foo and straight-up good food) are just down the hill from our chosen base of operations. We will arrange menus according to your personal nutritional needs, tastes and desires. Our chosen suites have kitchens, so you can prepare your own food, if desired. Preparing your own meals will bring listed costs down. All services are negotiable. Pricing stated covers everything you will need. Flights
No flights are included in package pricing, to and from the island, or on it. We will reserve flights to and from Hawaii and on Hawaii for a 10% fee. Costs go up, availability down, closer to departure, so reserve now. If you wish to take an air tour during your time alone on the island, we will point you in the right direction. If you want to focus on photography for a day in your series or want truly unique access, then consider a charter air tour with your guide as navigator. Lee Bridgers is has worked for decades as a movie location scout, so he knows the ropes when it comes to access with a helicopter.

Photography Services are Optional
Lee Bridgers, Dreamride owner, has an MFA in filmmaking, is a professional photographer, filmmaker, movie location scout, movie aerials and stunts cooridinator, and former university film school director. Clients can opt for a day focused on a certain kind of photography as part of the trip. Reefs, volcanic landscapes and eruptions, sports action shots, portraits, caves, craters, vegetation, birds, wild goats and donkeys, turtles, whales, dolphins--it's all possible.

Self-Guided Vacation Itineraries
For groups of all sizes: If you do not desire a guide for your trip, but appreciate the secrets we share, consider a travel packet including a highly organized itinerary with detailed maps, daily schedules, trail riding logistics, suggested side trips and alternate plans to allow for weather. We will dump our secrets on you. This service can include reservations for most convenient flights, lodgings, equipment rentals and day guides. Dreamride is a unique travel agent. We have lived on the Big Island, been to the places, stayed in the lodgings and performed activities in the locations we recommend and provide. Custom Big Island itineraries are based on lengthy interviews to determine needs, skills, interests and abilities. This best benefits active families, corporate retreats and club groups, but a couple of buddies will find that the trip becomes safer and smoother with what is literally a guidebook written especially for you. We can save you a ton of trouble and money.

Scheduling
Scroll down for contact information. Hawaii packages can be booked on demand, or you can grab up our chosen July dates, prime for snorkeling and less traffic. If you need to schedule your own dates, up to one year advanced booking is recommended to guarantee choice lodgings. Traditional holidays are discouraged due to congestion on the island, but we will book ANY dates with sufficient advanced notice. Booking from June 15th through August is best due to lower tourist visitation. Summer bookings can be reserved no sooner than 4 months in advance. Mid to late July is PRIME! If pre-scheduled dates are already reserved, there is the possibility that we may add another package for a private couple or solo at the front or back of the existing package at a reduced price. Couples: $18,995 (off season booking) or $19,995 (peak season booking).
Completely private! Seven days, eight nights. Guides and drivers available 24-7. Price includes all lodgings, personal guide(s) and driver(s), private chef services (healthy, fresh, organic meals), bike mechanic, 4WD transport, cycling, snorkeling and boogie boarding gear. As many as three guides will be assisting you on any given day to keep travel and logistics stress-free, smooth and efficient. Snacks, breakfasts, boxed lunches and prepared dinners are included.
